Your First Visit to Fairview Veterinary Hospital Should Be a Pleasant Process

Cocker Spaniel Pups

Shortly after you bring your new pet home, you should schedule their first veterinary appointment. Even if you have had your pet for a long while and just need a new doctor to provide caring veterinary services, we are pleased to have the opportunity to offer your pet compassionate care, for life.

Safety and Comfort

Young animals can be prone to stress when they enter a new situation. There may be aggressive or older pets present in the waiting area. We ask that to reduce the possibility of conflict, you keep your new pet in a carrier or on a leash in the waiting room. This will help to keep your pet calm and prevent the spread of illness.

Our veterinarians are experienced with providing a comforting and stress-free environment for your pet. We do ask that you tell us about any concerns regarding aggressive or shy tendencies, so that we can advise you on managing these issues.

The First Exam

During the first exam we will focus on getting to know you and your pet. Your veterinarian will conduct a head-to-tail examination. This exam will include weighing your pet and checking overall health including the skin and coat, eyes and ears, heart, lungs, teeth and gums.

Following the examination, your veterinarian will consult with you on any questions or concerns you may have. The discussion will cover health and wellness issues, vaccine scheduling, spaying, neutering, and microchipping your pet.

What to Bring

Upon your first visit, we ask that you bring the following:
